Disposal and recycling

Information on Disposal and Recycling

Old electrical appliances must not be disposed of with household waste! They contain valuable resources that can be recovered and reused through recycling. However, they also contain hazardous substances that must not be released into the environment.

You are required to take your old electrical appliances to an official collection point, such as your local recycling centre.

Meaning of the “crossed-out wheelie bin” symbol

The “crossed-out wheelie bin” symbol on your electrical and electronic equipment indicates that old appliances must not be disposed of with household waste but must be collected separately. You will find the symbol either on the product itself, its packaging or in the user manual.

The designation of the relevant hazardous substance is shown next to the wheelie bin symbol. “Cd” stands for cadmium, “Hg” for mercury and “Pb” for lead.

Batteries, rechargeable batteries and lamps

For safety reasons, batteries, rechargeable batteries and lamps that are not permanently installed in appliances should be removed before the old appliance is handed in and disposed of separately.

Data protection notice

Old appliances often contain sensitive personal data. This applies in particular to information and telecommunications technology devices such as computers and smartphones. For your own protection, please note that each end user is responsible for deleting data from any old appliances to be disposed of.

Please also note the following:

  • The old appliance you hand in cannot be returned to you.
  • No refund of the purchase price or residual value will be issued.
  • The old appliance will be recycled in accordance with the requirements of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act.

Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) registration

We confirm that the electrical and electronic equipment we offer comes from manufacturers duly registered with the Stiftung EAR in accordance with the ElektroG. The relevant criterion is the so-called WEEE number. As distributors only, we rely on the manufacturers’ proper registration with the Stiftung EAR. Manufacturers’ WEEE numbers can be looked up in the Stiftung EAR directory.
